The Academy of Peace promotes communication among youth from different sects and regions located in Baalbeck-Hermel, Lebanon. It uses ICT in order to cross social hurdles that prevent youth from interacting among each other.
More than sixty young citizens form the Academy of Peace. They are grouped and trained in the three LOST centers (Baalbeck - Ein - Beit Shama). The young participants are trained to communicate through ICT and express their opinion about different issues that affect their lives. The debates focus on promoting a sense of citizenship and justice and encourage trainees to participate in civic and public life. Participants will be visiting each other to lessen the effect sectarian divide and build better understanding of others.

Talented participants will reflect their understanding of peace in paint exhibition in Beit Shama. The project will end by showing three plays,one in each center. Considering youth a major source of power and change, this project will take participants 
one step forward to reduce violent conflict among youth by educating them and involving them in activities that take them away of the impact of radical political discources and leads them towards civic life.

ReplyDeleteبعدان خضعنا لهذه الاكادمية "اكادمية السلام" تعرفنا على اصدقاء ضمن هذه الجمعية وتحدث كل منا عن وجهة نظره في المجتمع وجدنا ان ارؤنا مختلفة عن الاخرين اما بعد ان اتخذنا دروسا من اساتذتنا تعلمنا ان مجتمعنا يحب التضامن والمحبة بين الاخرين واكتشفنا ان جميع افكارنا ليست كما تعلمنا من خلال حضورنا في هذه الاكادمية, واصبحنا نتخذ نفس القرارات.وكان كل واحد منا ينتمي الى طائفة معينة ويفرقون بين مذاهبهم.اما الان فاصبحنا يدا واحدة وهذا فخر لنا اننا تضامنا معا.
